Please Post Your Comments at the end of the article.  We appreciate your thoughts on this article.

We would ask you to pray about each article we print here.  If the article is about a Preacher or Ministry which we feel is preaching or teaching false doctrine or false teachings, we would ask you to be in prayer that the Lord would touch their hearts and minds so that they might see the error in their ways and turn to the Holy God who is Lord over and of our lives.  We mean no ill will to anyone or any ministry but we must, according to Scripture, warn the people when we see the enemy at work regardless of the nature if it is contrary to God's Word.

Laodicea or Philadelphia?

Too many Churches (in my opinion) spend the vast amount of their elders & board meetings going over the finances of the Church and the little problems that seem to abound instead of using the majority of that time to pray for these different aspects of the Church and watch God work His miracle blessings.

I truly believe if the leaders would take a different approach to “running” the Church with prayer as their main point of view, things would be much better than they are.  My approach is that the leaders should not be so concerned about the money aspect as they should be about the spiritual level of the people in the congregation.

In Matthew 18:3-4 we are told to be “humble” like a little child.  To me Jesus is saying that we must humble ourselves and depend on Him just like a little child depends on his parents.  The little child depends on his parents for his or her well-being and safety.  If the Church leaders would only humble themselves to the Lord and depend on Him instead of their own selves, I believe our Churches would be in much better condition that they now are.

Too many Churches are concentrating on numbers of members instead of the spiritual life of their existing members.  A small gathering of forty truly God-dependent people will accomplish more for the Lord and the community than two hundred spiritually dead members could only dream of.

Depend on God, not Man.

I plead to Elders and Board members of all the Churches to not be like the Church of Laodicea and to be more like the Church of Philadelphia instead. (Revelations, chapter 3)

Billy Sunday"Take 15 minutes each day to listen to God talking to you; take
15
minutes each day to talk to God; take 15 minutes each day to talk to others about God." - Billy Sunday
Before he read a letter, looked at a paper or even read a telegram, he went first to the Bible, that the first impression of the day might be what he got directly from God. Maybe that would be a good thing for us to do also?

Then & Now
A preacher in those days, when he felt God called him to preach, didn't hunt up a college or seminary, he hunted up a good horse, took off across the country and began crying "Behold the Lamb of God, that taketh away the sin of the world"!   Today they look for the best paying job with the best retirement package.
